Description
“Lamb” is the first feature film by Ethiopian filmmaker Yared Zakele. The movie retraces the story of a young boy who becomes emotionally attached to a ewe after the death of his mother. The film was entirely shot in Ethiopia, with local actors and a locally sourced technical team. The action aimed to strengthen the cinema industry and the skills of professionals working in this sector in Ethiopia.
Results
- Production of a feature film in Ethiopia that spurred production growth and local government attention to support the Ethiopian film industry;
- The film led to wide international recognition (the first Ethiopian film to be selected in Cannes, more than a hundred selections and many awards);
- The capacities of Ethiopian partners and local professionals have been greatly improved.
