Description “Run” by Philippe Lacôte looks back upon the recent history of the civil war in Ivory Coast. The film had a three-fold objective: to contribute to the renewal of Côte d’Ivoire cinema, to strengthen professional skills in the sector and to take part in the national reconciliation process.
Results - The film has made professionalisation of Ivorian actors, technicians and service providers possible, favouring job creation and the emergence of a cinema industry in Côte d'Ivoire; - Thanks to the success of the film, the Ivorian authorities have become more involved in the film industry, doubling the envelope of funds dedicated to cinema; - A film school project has emerged in Côte d'Ivoire, the West African Film Institute; - The film contributed to the work of memory, reconstruction and reconciliation of the population: because of its theme (examining the civil war), the film was broadcast via the National Truth, Dialogue and Reconciliation Commission as a tool for dialogue.
Key figures - 1 quality film made in Côté d’Ivoire (first Ivorian film since 1985 to take part in the Cannes Film Festival) - 65 jobs created - 60 people trained - regulatory framework impacted
