Description This action proposed a series of training sessions targeting 20 Kenyan and Tanzanian artistic groups from disadvantaged environments. Furthermore, the project carried out awareness-raising actions to improve the regulatory framework for cultural policies in Kenya and Tanzania.
Results - The artistic and managerial skills of artists from vulnerable backgrounds have been strengthened. For most of the artists, the project established new avenues of income possibilities; - Participants from extremely vulnerable backgrounds were given an opportunity to speak up and express themselves; - The development of the “Cultural Policy Toolkit” provides a profound conceptual , and therefore sustainable input for the empowerment of the cultural sectors; - The project had a positive institutional development impact and laid important foundations for ongoing efforts in the cultural sector.

Description Led by the International Music Council, this project strengthened the music industry in the African continent along four major axes: exchanges and academic researches between African and European universities; a vocational training programme for musicians; capacity-building of target institutions; and wide distribution of the results.
Results - Young music professionals discovered the demanding professional environment of a music festival and saw their professional skills strengthened; - The beneficiaries acquired new skills; - Music festivals and educational structures are networked; - Universities have been able to expand their libraries with a collection of books covering various topics related to cultural management, musicology, ethnology, instrumental practice, music theory.

Description The International Images Film Festival for Women (IIFF) in Zimbabwe is a distribution and networking platform for women and gender sensitive filmmakers from all over the world.
Results - The quantity and quality of IIFF films and network have been improved - The festival has expanded its activities in the countryside. In several villages, films promoting women’s development and positive relations all over Zimbabwe have been screened; - IIFF organised screenings in several schools across the country. The films focussed on child sexual abuse, gender based violence and HIV. These screenings had an important impact in raising awareness among young people and adults.

Description Screenwriting labs to coincide with the film festivals hosted by local partners.
Results - Filmmakers received training from internationally acclaimed mentors who shared their knowledge about the skills of scriptwriting; artistic skills were empowered in order to tell their stories through film; - Sixty new scripts dealing with issues of gender, cultural norms and current social issues were honed and were ready for production at the end of each lab; - The pool of screenwriters understands the principles of screenwriting and they are already using this knowledge to better their careers.

Description “Rafiki”, is Kenyan author and director Wanuri Kahiu’s first film. It depicts the love story between two young women in modern-day Kenya. All of the project phases, from production to distribution, called upon the talents and skills of Kenyan people.
Results - Production of a cultural work (feature film) in Kenya that opened a discussion about issues relating to sexual equality and minority rights; - Economic development of the cultural sector was boosted and the number of skilled workers in the region increased; - International focus on the Kenyan film industry.

Description Through the Digital United ACP project, Buni.tv set up collaborative structures and developed a fair, common contract which greatly simplified the digital distribution process for filmmakers.
Results - The project allowed an enlargement of the platform’s catalogues and the development of partnerships with other distribution platforms; - ACP film industry stakeholders are aware of the opportunity to distribute their work through the partner platforms, and several have started to see some revenues; - ACP audiences have better, cheaper, wider access to ACP films, totaling over 18,000,000 online views for films from ACP areas that had not previously been so widely exposed.

Results - A well-functioning audience information portal integrating multiple information and video-on-demand websites disseminating content from or related to Africa; - A well-functioning online networking and professional exchange platform for industry practitioners from Africa and its diaspora; - A permanent network of IT specialists from Africa and Europe who share and spread the technical knowledge required for building Mokolo with professionals in the fields of IT and film and visual media production in Africa and its diaspora.

Description Aimed principally at physically handicapped (predominantly visual) professionals in Kenya and Senegal, DocuSound delivered a series of training courses in production and developed and broadcast radio documentaries.
Results - The project gave the opportunity to people with disabilities to make themselves heard in the media; - 2 websites created; - A network of professionals delivering radio content, regardless of the physical abilities of the members, has been built; - Documentaries were aired on 6 local community radios (some have an audience of over 1 million people) and are on line. Main issues of documentaries: social justice, human rights, health access, fair development; - Trainees have become trainers.
